DC Air Cooler vs AC Air Cooler: Quick Comparision Advantages and Disadvantages of AC and DC Air Cooler

Asia depends upon air coolers and the most common air cooler used in Asia are DC and AC types of air coolers. In this blog, we will compare AC vs DC air coolers. Asia is the 2nd hottest subcontinent on the earth and also the largest continent by population. Most people in Asia can’t afford Air conditioners for cooling their rooms and house. Here in Asia, most people depend on AC or DC air coolers only In India, usage of air coolers is approximately around 15-20%. But unfortunately, this air cooler runs on electricity which is quite expensive for people in Asia, so day by day people try to find new solutions to get maximum benefit with less consumption of electricity.

In this blog post, we will review both types of air coolers i.e. AC and DC, and try to find out which air cooler can be best for domestic uses.

What is an Air Cooler?

An air cooler work on the principle of evaporation therefore it is also known as an evaporative cooler, which is a device that cools air using the process of evaporation.

An air cooler works by pulling warm air from outside, passing it over wet evaporative pads mounted at the back, and cooling the air down significantly as it passes over the Pads. The cooled air is then evenly circulated throughout the set space.

There are mainly two types of Air coolers used today which are :

  1. DC Air Cooler
  2. AC Air Cooler

DC air cooler is a type of air cooler that runs on direct current therefore, it is known as a DC air cooler, while on the other hand the the AC air cooler consumes alternative current.

DC Air Cooler vs AC Air Cooler: Advantages and Disadvantages of AC and DC Air Cooler

The most common use air coolers are DC and AC type of air cooler, both had their own benefits but one benefit that attract the customer most is that the DC cooler is more energy efficient than the AC air cool but it also comes with a certain type of malfunction issue because the motor used in it doesn’t have a longer life span. In this section, we discuss the benefit of both and we will also put light on the DC air cooler and how it is more energy efficient than the AC air cooler.

Advantages and Disadvantages of DC Air Coolers

Advantages:

  1. One of the Best advantages of DC coolers is that they are energy efficient which means DC Air Cooler vs AC Air Cooler: Advantages and Disadvantages of AC and DC Air Cooler
  2. Mini & Portable: DC air coolers are smaller yet highly efficient units. Hence, they are extremely portable and can be easily moved from one room to another.
  3. Safer: AC units present more risk related to electric shock or short-circuiting. However, DC air coolers don’t have any such possibilities and are relatively safe.

Disadvantage:

High Maintenance: the DC motor requires regular maintenance as it heats up, and most DC air cooler DC motors can last up to 2 seasons but it is also a fact that the motor of the DC air cooler is quite cheaper than the AC one.

Advantages and Disadvantages of AC Air Coolers

Advantages:

  1. AC air coolers are a cheaper cooling option than air conditioning, making them a good energy-efficient option.
  2. They’re portable, so they can be easily moved from one room to another.
  3. They don’t require any installation, so setup is quick and easy.
  4. The AC air cooler requires less maintenance than the DC Air Cooler

Disadvantages:

There is always a risk chance of electric shocks that can be life-threatening and also the AC air cooler is much more noisy.

FAQS

Why does the Air cooler don’t cool or work in May and June?

The high temperatures and the humidity in May and June can make it very difficult for air coolers to adequately reduce temperatures. Additionally, air coolers work best in areas with low humidity, as the humidity prevents the device from evaporating the water that it uses to create the cooling effect.

How does the air cooler work?

An air cooler works by taking in hot air and passing it over coils filled with cold water or ice. As the hot air passes through the cooler, the temperature is lowered as the air is cooled by the cold water, and the cooled air is then blown into the room. Water is then pumped through the coils, absorbing the heat from the air, and then this cooler water is circulated outside the cooler. This cycle is repeated until the desired room temperature is reached.

Which one is better an AC or DC air cooler?

Both types do have the ability to cool a room but only in months when the humidity is less in the air, so they won’t work in months of May and June. In terms of efficiency, the DC is the better option as compared to the AC air cooler.

which one is best ac or air cooler?

The best cooling system for your home or building depends on your specific needs and preferences. Some people prefer air conditioners, while others may prefer air coolers. It is best to determine which system is right for your needs and then make your decision accordingly.

Do an air cooler with an ice cube worth it?

I don’t think that the air cooler with ice jell is worth it because, within 20-30 minutes, the ice melts down and maintains the regular normal temperature.

Final Discusion ( Conclusion )

I would like to make a choice of the DC air cooler rather than the AC one, why because I found out that the DC air cooler is more energy efficient and also the chances of electric shocks are very low. Moreover today the DC air cooler is much cheaper than that of the AC air cooler. Trust me there is no difference in cooling, why because both of the air cooler work on the principle of evaporation, so the working of both air coolers is quite similar. Although sometimes it happens that extensive use or any ups and down of voltage to the electric motor cause mail functioning. But it is also a fact that the DC motor is cheaper than AC motor.
